The Federal Government has assured workers that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, will drive industrial peace in its relationship with the leadership of the organised labour movement in the country.
The assurance is coming amidst agitation by the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria for N56,000 minimum wage.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Babachir David Lawal, according to a statement issued by the Director (Press and Public Relations) in the Office of the SGF, Mr. Bolaji Adebiyi, stated this during a courtesy call on him by the President of the Organisation of Trade Unions of West Africa, Mademba Sock and his team.The government also promised to ensure security across the countries in the West African sub-region.
Adebiyi said, “The SGF assured the leadership of labour unions that the government of President Muhammadu Buhari is prepared to partner the unions to achieve peace and security across the West African sub-region and prosperity for all the citizens.”
According to him, the SGF applauded the decision of OTUWA to relocate its headquarters to Abuja in Nigeria, adding that the proximity of the organisation to the Economic Commission of West African States, would further enhance the anticipated cooperation with the regional body.
He also assured the delegation of the assistance of the Federal Government in settling down in Abuja, and urged the Executive Secretary, who is a Nigerian, to direct any request of the union through appropriate government channels.
