The head of Orile Odo-Onosa community in the Ikosi Ejirin Local Council Development Area, Ikorodu, Chief Jimoh Adelaja, has called on the Lagos State Government to wade into violence caused by some land speculators in the neighbourhood.
Adelaja said residents had been leaving the community in droves as a result of incessant attacks by the speculators.

A statement on Thursday by the traditional ruler, said, “I wish to draw the attention of Governor Akinwumi Ambode, the Lagos State House of Assembly, the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, and all those concerned with the security of Nigerians to the criminal activities of some land grabbers who have been wreaking havoc in our community. The Baale urged the Lagos State House of Assembly and police authorities to allay the fear of the remaining dwellers.
“We seek urgent intervention of the government to the plight of hundreds of people in and around this once peaceful community who are now living in fear. Land speculators have almost turned us to nothing in our homeland.”
Adelaja added that the economic activities in the neighbourhood had been threatened due to the trend, alleging that security operatives and hoodlums were being used by the land grabbers to victimise residents.
