The Federal Government on Monday fired six heads at the Ministry of Information and Culture as well as chief executives of other parastatals and   agencies.
The Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria, Ima Niboro, who was former President Goodluck Jonathan’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, was sent packing along with Sola Omole (Nigerian Television Authority), Ladan Salihu (Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria), Sam Worlu (Voice of Nigeria), Emeka Mba (National Broadcasting Commission) and Mike Omeri (National Orientation Agency).

A statement by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Monday directed the affected heads of parastatals to hand over to the most senior officers in their different agencies.
It said Mohammed announced the sackings during a meeting with Niboro, Omole, Salihu, Omeri, Mba and Worlu.
The minister commended   them for their services to the nation and wished them the best of luck in their future endeavours.
Although he did not give any reasons for their removal, reports claimed President Muhammadu Buhari had been under pressure to sack the chief executives appointed by Jonathan.
Some of the sacked CEOs had faced intense scrutiny about the running of their organisations in recent times.
For instance, Omeri came under scrutiny for his role in the last general elections.
He has had to issue a statement, saying that he rejected appointment to the political campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party because of his role as the DG of NOA.
Mba has been under probe by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for undisclosed reasons.
In a statement, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, said Buhari approved the removal of the Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control, Dr. Paul Orhii, as well as the heads of the Nigeria Investment Promotion Council, Bank of Industry, National Centre for Women Development, Industrial Training Fund, Nigerian Export-Import Bank and the National Agency for Prohibition of Traffic in Persons and Other Related Matters.
Also sacked are the chief executives of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund, New Partnership for Africa’s Development, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, and Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board.
The rest are the heads of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Tertiary Education Trust Fund, National Information Technology Development Agency, Petroleum Equalisation Fund, Nigeria Railways Corporation, Bureau of Public Procurements, Bureau of Public Enterprises, Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency and Standards Organisation of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Buhari has appointed a former member of the House of Representatives, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, as his Senior Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora.
The former lawmaker was in the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday to take her appointment letter.
