The Lagos State Security Trust Fund says it is making efforts to improve on the security of the state.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Fund, Dr Abdulrazaq Balogun, said the aim of the agency was to intervene in the security needs of the state and it was doing its best by providing all the necessary equipment for the security agencies.
Balogun spoke during a courtesy visit to PUNCH Place, the corporate headquarters of PUNCH Nigeria Limited on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, on Tuesday.
He noted that the agency was faced with the problems of funding, power supply, among others. He said “The Lagos State Security Trust Fund is a public-private partnership that assists in the provision of logistics and equipment for the police and other security agencies in Lagos State to improve on security. The aim is to ensure a safer Lagos and in turn ensure that businesses thrive and the state generates more revenue.”
Balogun said, “Although we are faced with some challenges, there is so much the state government has put in place to ensure the state is safe. A lot of actions are carried out behind the scene and that is why terrorism has not gained any grounds in Lagos State.
“The issue of transferring policemen before they become conversant with a particulate terrain has also been a challenge. Policemen need to be conversant with the terrain they are supposed to monitor. We hope the new administration will do something about it.
“We offer periodic trainings for our personnel and we are also introducing a health mission to ensure they are healthy and able to function properly.”
Balogun advised residents of Lagos State to take advantage of emergency lines to ensure rapid response to security situations.
