All these baby names have shocking unfortunate meanings!10 hrs ago

© Provided by Associated News Choosing a baby name can be hard and what could be more disheartening than finding out the one name you and your partner can agree on has an unfortunate meaning behind it.
And some of these popular names do!
Cecilia

Old-fashioned and traditional names have been coming more and more popular, but maybe steer clear of Cecilia as it means ‘blind.’
Claudia

Deirdre
Plenty of Deirdre’s are floating about this lovely emerald isle, but did you know that the name actually means ‘sorrowful’ or ‘sad one.’
Emily

Leah
The name Leah has many different meanings, but in Hebrew, it means ‘tired’ or ‘weary.’ (In Irish it means the light of the sun, so maybe we’ll stick with that!)
Mary
You would think that such a holy name would have a holy meaning, nope, in Hebrew, Mary means ‘rebellion’ or ‘bitter.’
Molly

Rebecca
Another popular one in Ireland, Rebecca means ‘to bind’, ‘to tie’ or ‘snare’.
And with that, we’re going to move onto the boys.
(Don’t worry, there’s much less bad names here!)
Calvin

Tristan
Another name with multiple meanings, in Celtic Tristan means ‘sorrowful’ or ‘sad.’
